QoQ

What is the point of a blog?

Writing ideas you find yourself repeating to others? Writing ideas down and spreading knowledge in informal settings? Because you just want to write? Accountability? For the sake of prosperity?1

does it matter?

I’m a perfectionist, an overthinker, a worrier, someone who avoids triplets to beat the AI allegations. I find myself thinking of many blog posts, or ideas, and mulling them over continuously until I forget them or worse drop them. I don’t know what I want this blog to contain, in fact I have very little idea of where I want to end up in general.

That’s not actually true, I have too many ideas for what this blog should contain and where I want to end up. I think that’s the bigger problem. And to keep all the doors open I stand in the hallway peaking round doorframes and waving my foot through the liminal.

QoQ

Anyway, qoq. A friend pointed me to this blog on quantity over quality and it’s a fact I’m well aware of. So I want to try this so called qoq, to keep presenting ideas to the wider world through the world wide web. We can explore my too many ideas, fuck around and find out, and maybe cure my parallesis and step through some doors.

I want to start with this blog, but I want to include a mini-blog following up on digital-detox. 2

QoQ: Digital Detox Followup

I was “diagnosed” with generalised anxiety disorder, if I remember to take my medication I find it much easier to ignore destructive technology and focus on the things I enjoy. Equally, if I mistep and open up reddit, the news, read a anxiety-inducing blog, I feel the anxiety rise and the itch grow stronger.

I don’t think it’s new knowledge, or shocking, that the media landscape aims to induce anxiety (and many other similar emotions). Anxiety is not a pleasant emotion, in the worst cases you feel like you are going to die imminently. From what? It doesn’t matter. To escape these feelings why not flood your brain so you can’t think? Why not keep scrolling, keep distracting yourself, don’t think about the fact it’s making the feeling worse when you leave.

And that’s all for tonight folks, qoq will return.

  1. I have read each of these blogs/blog-posts in full (or close to it). I highly recommend reading them if you’re me, if you’re not me maybe they’ll be interesting. Definitely look at 100 Rabbits↩︎

  2. There will be another slightly more in depth follow up … maybe.↩︎
